JIMMY
EAT WORLD
"Futures" (click album cover for review)
Review
by: Matt Browne
The Singer of this band was quoted as saying that if you didn't
like the opening track of futures, then give up because you won't
like the rest of the album. That being said, Futures, the latest
offering from JEW doesn't offer much variety, but it does offer
some good ideas and some solid rock songs. Many of the songs contain
some looped beats or driving simple three note melodies that create
the backbone of the pieces. Not to say that Futures is by any
mean simple, but rather uncomplicated. Everything on Futures makes
sense. On their new record, it seems like Jimmy Eat World ironed
out all the eccentricities, and put out a record of smooth, well-oiled
rock and roll.
