Every once in a while, there is a band that makes you scratch
your head and say "what the fuck is this?". HORSE
the band have accomplished that with thier album "R. Borlax".
The keyboard in this band is insane. You'd think that a lead
keyboard would either not work or be downright stupid, but here
they make it work with flying colors. Still integrating double
bass pedals, whammy dives, hammer note solos, AND a lightning
fast lead keyboars, its nothing short of incredible
The standout track is "Cutsman", hands down. About
a villian from MegaMan, you are subjected to an assualt of chug
chug guitar and a soaring keyboard. Its like On Broken Wings
meets Jefferson Starship. The best way to describe this song
is if Eddie Van Halen was on speed while we wrote "Jump".
Heavy enough for the hardest kids, and fun enough to make the
snottiest hipster chuckle, its a pure classic.
The rest of the album is in the same vain as "Cutsman".
It feels like you are in a Nintendo game, and I think that that
was the desired effect. I kept wanting to check my health meter.
I really enjoyed this album. Its heavy, ridiculous, and fun.
It appeals to all. whether is hardcore, grindcore, Nintendocore,
what have you, its downright enjoyable. Between the larger than
life keyboards and the double bass, this had me air guitaring
all the way through.
